I heard a story that Boris Yeltsin visited an American supermarket and wept for his people. He couldn’t imagine such opulence being available for working people. My yellow lab has a higher standard of living than the majority of mankind. My house has electricity and hot running water. My family has never been hungry. I have never lost a child to disease. I personally have survived three illnesses that would have been fatal in most places in the world. I have two cars. Until recently, I have never feared my government. And yet young people are working hard to throw all of this way. It’s astonishing.
It is astonishing. But you can excuse young people, I guess, by pointing out that they’re just parroting what they have learned - from their schools, from the media, even from their churches in some cases.
So it’s the cumulative effect of years of leftist thought all distilling down into this generation.
But what I don’t understand is what person in their right mind would think the leftist message is good to begin with. It’s all about having less...less prosperity, less material comfort, less freedom, less happiness.
Happiness is in our Delcaration of Independence. So maybe that’s why they hate it.
