Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas will begin cruising July 2 from Miami on three- to four-night trips. Unvaccinated and vaccinated passengers aboard the ship will have different cruising experiences. Unvaccinated guests can't access the vaccinated-only parts of the ship and will have to pay extra for COVID-19 tests. See more stories on Insider's business page.
Royal Caribbean doesn't have a sweeping vaccine mandate for cruises sailing out of Florida. But if you're unvaccinated and sailing with the cruise line this July, you might not have the same cruising experience as your fellow vaccinated passengers.
Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas will bring passengers on three or four-night trips from Miami to the Bahamas and the cruise line's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, beginning July 2. All onboard crew and the majority of guests will be vaccinated, according to the cruise line's frequently asked questions page. Most of the unvaccinated passengers will be children.
Now, let's take a look at the differences between a vaccinated and unvaccinated passenger's experience aboard the upcoming Freedom of the Seas sailings.
Fully vaccinated guests can access every part of the ship, and won't need to wear a face covering at "vaccinated-only venues." Unvaccinated passengers won't have this same luxury: they'll have to wear masks indoors or in crowded outdoor locations unless they're eating and drinking, and won't be able to access select venues.
Locations that are vaccinated-only include:
Chef''s Table (restaurant) Izumi Hibachi and Sushi (restaurant) the main dining room on the third deck R Bar Schooner Bar Viking Crown Nightclub Solarium Bar (for 21-years-old or older guests) and Pool (for 16-years-old or older guests) 70s Party in Studio B some Studio B Ice Skating Show times Casino Royale and Bar Art auctions

“but I didn’t think it would start with the cruise industry!”
test case ...
I have a booking with them out of NJ for December. They did not disclose any of this when the arrangements were being made. If these restrictions hold true they will lose eight booking. We can cancel with no penalties till end of September.
You couldn’t pay me enough to get on a floating hotel with 5000+ strangers
I’d rather stay on land, see the sights and charter day fishing trips in the keys
Technology can be duplicated ....
I’d cancel and Tell em why.
Timing would be the day before end of September.
There are plenty of other cruise lines out there that are trying to satisfy vaxed and unvaxed passengers. -Tom
In all fairness, Denny's does serve decent hash browns.
You haven’t cruised much, have you!
I spent my last vacation snorkeling in the Pacific, kayaking up a river, hiking in a rain forest, splashing under a waterfall, horseback riding along a beach, and riding in a helicopter.
Now that's entertainment.
The best thing about RC for us is the HAPPY 3 1/2 HOURS and the DIVE shows on the Mega ships....otherwise we like Celebrity better.
I know what you mean. As a boomer growing up in SoCal, I have developed an aversion to crowds.
Cool ...you can also do every one of those activities via booking excursions on most cruise ships
Unless you include Whittier Boulevard as a teenage, no.
Just me and 5000 of my new friends.
“So you ARE vaccinated, but I have to be vaccinated for YOUR vaccination to work??”
Good one!
I usually avoid the jacuzzis and spa if a lot of folks are around anyway. Most of the time, I hit the sauna,, I miss the coed saunas and the midnight buffets. Wifey walks and reads and Bingos most of the time.
If and when we hit the waves again, we don’t plan on missing the usual spots we enjoy most.. You can only read so many books and eat so much food and peruse the shops so many times and then ...
We have only missed two cruises so far since COVID swept the Erf ,, good thing we have pleasant memories of a bunch of past sailings and loads of pictures to remind us of a world once unMasked.
We’ve sailed on Princess every time except one (Celebrity). I wonder how they’re handling this mess.
Separate but equal.
A certain image popped in my head heh.
The one up here in Northern Alberta isn’t bad really.
“I am assuming if you have tuberculosis, swine flu, dengue or any other sickness,”
Don’t forget all the homosexuals lolling around in the pools and hot tubs on cruise ships. And the cruise lines beg them to sail, and cater to them. That scares me WAY more than Fauci Flu or TB.
