A prototype flying car has completed a 35-minute flight between international airports in Nitra and Bratislava, Slovakia. The hybrid car-aircraft, AirCar, is equipped with a BMW engine and runs on regular petrol-pump fuel. Its creator, Prof Stefan Klein, said it could fly about 1,000km (600 miles), at a height of 8,200ft (2,500m), and had clocked up 40 hours in the air so far. It takes two minutes and 15 seconds to transform from car into aircraft.
'Very pleasant' The narrow wings fold down along the sides of the car. Prof Klein drove it straight off the runway and into town upon arrival, watched by invited reporters. He described the experience, early on Monday morning, as "normal" and "very pleasant". In the air, the vehicle reached a cruising speed of 170km/h. It can carry two people, with a combined weight limit of 200kg (31 stone). But unlike drone-taxi prototypes, it cannot take off and land vertically and requires a runway.
There are high expectations for the nascent market in flying cars, which have long been heralded in popular culture as a visionary landmark of the future.

31 stone = 1 Stacy Abrams
How many Jerrold Nadlers?
Saw one of those amphibious cars from the early 60’s the other day. Beautiful ‘63 blue convertible.
I didn’t see a price and a place to put my deposit down on one. Of course I may need to find a slightly lower weight Mrs. Glad2b, I am pulling over half of the passenger/pilot weight myself.
Aren’t those the exploding Pintos?
“200 kg = 440.9 lbs, OR
31 st = 434 lbs therefor
235 lbs + 128 lbs = 363 lbs so the Mrs. and could make a flight”
If those weights are correct that would be about the size of two men minus the luggage. No luggage.what good is it?
bkmk
Ahhhh, I see the difference (not)
This thing isn’t long for the world. It has a BMW engine and runs on regular gas. Somebody missed the memo!

The wings are small and delicate looking. Doesn’t look flyable at all, of course no video, I call fake news.
What movie is that clip from?
Looks like it should be on the track at Le Mans.
Fandango
It doesn’t count until it can be folded into a briefcase 💼-ala The Jetsons.
Amen
Christopher Lee had one in the Man With The Golden Gun.
Looks like it would fit right in at LeMans...
