They Don’t Make ‘Em Like They Used To: America’s Greatest Old Generals, And Their Sorry Modern Replacements

... Milley is a political leader, not a military one, and he sees that buying into the left’s most sickening racial blood libels is a way to bolster his position and keep the military machine juiced to the maximum.

Over the past several years, Milley has repeatedly disgraced himself with grossly political behavior.

On January 6, Milley took park in a de facto coup against President Trump’s authority, bypassing the president’s commander-in-chief role to instead speak with Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Vice President Pence about how to deploy the National Guard around the Capitol. It was a move so obvious even Bill Kristol could see what was happening.

Milley was also the first signatory on an “unprecedented” letter by leading U.S. generals denouncing the events of January 6, which described the tumult as “a direct assault on the U.S. Congress, the Capitol building, and our Constitutional process.”

Milley was eager to deploy tens of thousands of troops to “protect” the Capitol after a bogus “insurrection” where the only shot fired was by a Capitol police officer into the neck of Ashli Babbitt. He thinks it’s critical to read books about “white rage” as part of his strategic training. But in keeping with the modern military’s threat perception capabilities, while Milley favors maximum force to stop the phantom threat of a MAGA insurrection, during the far bloodier and more destructive riots during the Summer of Floyd, Milley’s chief concern was making sure the riots were left unchecked by military force:

Interesting bit on Gen. Milley.

Makes sense that the generals are running things as we know Biden is barely cognitive.

Strange times...

Trump’s biggest mistake while in office was NOT firing every single military officer appointed/promoted by Obama.

He should have known then what was coming. The insurrection act was NOT enough. Trump thought the military had his back.

I think the military pulled a Lucy vs Charlie brown fake out on Trump as a result.

Q was right in that the military may be in control. What Q got wrong was the side they would be on. When Trump could not get Federal troops to help suppress the George Floyd riots last year in the District of Columbia, a Federal jurisdiction, and for which there was plenty of precedence (the Bonus Army in 1931, the MLK riots in 1969, the antiwar protests in 1969 and 1970), it was obvious the top brass was insubordinate. Actually, Trump was the least powerful President since Buchanan, as the military, the Federal law enforcement community, both parties in Congress, and the permanent bureaucracy were aligned against him.

“Trump’s biggest mistake while in office was NOT firing every single military officer appointed/promoted by Obama.”

Obama was true to his word when he promised a “fundamental transformation” of America. All throughout the unelected government and military Obama fired people and replaced them with good communists.

I agree, not cleaning house in the military was a mistake, but there is only so much one man can do.

Are they all Obama appointees then?

It makes sense.

Most likely the woke generals report to the Democrats who in turn, report to foreign interests, mainly the CCP.

The only thing that gives me hope is that Trump is still kicking. Somebody/something is protecting him and it’s not the SS.

Trump thought the military had his back.

Trump seemed to believe that the power of the President was real, regardless of how much the deep-state hated him. He also believed his personality could overcome them.

I realize too he couldn't blow it all up, out of concern for stability of the country.

Miley does not command or control any troops. He’s an advisor only.

I would assume that literally every officer in every branch was promoted at some time during the 8 years Obama was in office. You want a military without any officers at all?

I agree that he leaned far too heavily on the perceived power of his own personality. Showmanship isn’t unimportant, but it’s only a small part of the puzzle. However, the power of the presidency is real. The problem is Trump had no earthly idea how government worked, much less how to effectively wield that power to his benefit.

Even more problematically, he surrounded himself with people who weren’t loyal nor shared his world view. There are inherent problems putting someone in charge of the country who doesn’t understand the esoteric complexities of governing and who hasn’t built-up a Rolodex of trustworthy, like-minded bureaucrats to take the reins of that bureaucracy.

Being a successful president takes LOT more than giving rip-roaring campaign speeches in front of audiences of enthusiastic supporters. It’s about knowing how the sausage is made and where the bodies are buried. Trump didn’t and I’m afraid to say, still doesn’t.

I don’t know if it was a Military Coup or not, but a Coup was definitely planned, organized, and executed against President Trump. The Republican Party participated. The Democrat Party participated. The sheep participated by sticking their head way up their asses and pretending nothing out of the ordinary happened. And to add insult to injury, they deluded themselves into believing that come 2022 and 2024 things will return to normal and they will be back in control. And President Trump will be returned to Power. Nothing could be further from the truth. The People in Control will continue to consolidate and tighten their Power until they are ready to strike. And then they will. And the slaughter will begin. Supporters pf President Trump will be first. Then the slaughter of Christians will follow , along with Whites that were not Trump supporters or Christians and Jews.

The power isn't real when every SES level Fed.gov apparatchik is doing their utmost to undermine you.

I personally think it all starts at DOJ. It is the political brain and nerve center of Fed.gov, much like the KGB in the USSR, and its only getting stronger. Every successful President had real political allies as AG. Trump started badly with Sessions, who stabbed him in the back, and Barr was McConnell's choice.

Unless one counts General Washington, Major Monroe, General Jackson, General Harrison, Captain Lincoln, General Johnson, General Grant, General Hayes, General Harrison, Major McKinley, Captain Truman, General Eisenhower, Lieutenant Kennedy, Lt. Commander Johnson, Lt. Commander Nixon, Lt. Commander Ford, Lieutenant Carter, Captain Reagan, and Lieutenant (j.g.) Bush becoming President as a military coup, then no.
