I believe it was actually a Looney Toons Cartoon where New York Skyscrapers were built around a Parcel of Land occupied by a small House that the owner wouldn’t sell.
Can’t remember if it was a Bugs Bunny Cartoon.

A friend of the family was in a similar situation. The developer built all around the house. The house was eventually bought by the developer and torn down.
Another situation is happened near me. Someone bought up all land around an office building and put in a mixed shopping/housing development. One the owner of the missing parcel sells, the parking garage will be extended.
