Olympic hammer thrower Gwen Berry ‘pissed’ national anthem was playing at Olympic trials
A U.S. hammer thrower turned away from the American flag as she stood on the medal podium at the Olympic trials during the national anthem on Saturday, saying she’s “pissed” the Star-Spangled Banner was played as she received her bronze medal.
Gwen Berry — who qualified for her second U.S. Olympic team during the trials — shifted to face the stands rather than the flag before holding up a black shirt that reads “Activist Athlete.”
“I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose,” Berry said of the timing of the anthem. “I was pissed, to be honest.”

i wonder why she wasn’t more intelligent, and decide to represent an african country.
American athleltes do go onto other countries’ teams to represet them. Its not against the law.
Of course she wouldnlt get to train in the American temas’ facilities and have their docs and physical therapists, and all the perks that go with it,
but I am sure for one with Gwen’s deep convictions, that doesn’t matter at all.
Take away her medal, disqualify her for the Olympics, and as a repeat offender, issue a lifetime ban from athletics (track & field). There is no place for ungrateful knotheads to represent the USA on the national or international stage.
