During the late 1960s through the early1970s I worked at a local NHRA drag strip. Initially I worked as handicap starter…calculating and dialing in starting delays for races between different classes of dragsters. Later I was the medic for the track ambulance.

Interesting. Although I have no personal background at all in drag racing, I am very familiar with handicap horse races, where they, unfairly in my view, add on extra weight to the better horses. Never knew they did/do something similar in drag racing.
