You underestimate the amount of money it takes to get a vaccine perfected and accepted by the FDA. Because of President Trump’s warp speed, U.S. agencies committed about $2.5 billion to help develop Modernaโ€™s vaccine and buy doses, according to the “New York Times.”

In a Moderna news release from July 26, the company said it received approximately $955 million from BARDA, and Phase 3 of the vaccine study would be conducted in collaboration with National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

The New England Journal of Medicine recognized support from Emory University, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the Dolly Parton COVID-19 Research Fund and other organizations in the development of the Moderna vaccine, which trials show is 94.5% effective.

The article notes that the funding to Emory and Vanderbilt, as well as Emmes and Kaiser Washington, came through NIH, meaning it was funded by taxpayers. Parton made the donation โ€” which amounts to less than 1% of the total amount of development funding โ€” because of her friendship with Dr. Naji Abumrad, who treated her after a 2014 car crash.

The money to develop these COVID vaccines was well spent. These vaccines have proven to be 95% effective. They will prevent the deaths of millions of people. We can stop denigrating the industry that has helped to stop the biggest health crisis of the last century?

I’m not sure where you were educated, but you might ask for a refund ‘cause your logic does not make any sense.

Please explain why we need an experimental vaccine for a bug that only infects 10% of the population? That is, 90% do not get infected! Further, the death rate from the vaccine is less than .03% and a large percentage of those are people who are in nursing homes ready to die anyway.

I don’t get it and I sure don’t get taking an experimental vaccine that has the potential to kill!
