In 1927, Sam Lanin, one of the most prolific recording artists of all time, teamed up with the First Lady of Radio Vaughn De Leath to produce this lively patriotic dance tune. This goes out to any students, faculty, staff or alumni of Whittier High School in Whittier, Calif., which has set its alma mater to this tune.

When you type in the URL for FR, you will see a list of articles. At the very top of the page, "Free Republic" appears in bold at the left corner. To the right are buttons that read, Forum, Account, Mail, Pings, Post and Sign-Out. When you click on Account, you can see how many threads and replies you have posted.

The Revelers, a vocal group, and Roger Wolfe Kahn released an instrumental version. These also came out in 1927.

I still have a .45 of Lester Lanin and His Orchestra doing two campaign songs for Barry Goldwater for President. The songs are actually pretty good, and they were definitely backing the right candidate.

Note that the music includes phrases from “Yankee Doodle” and “Dixie”—very unwoke!

I have that one and a few others, including a 45 that has a Goldwater campaign song on one side and a Johnson song on the other, both performed by the same artist.
