Our culinary repertoires are bursting at the seams – all thanks to TikTok.
Over the past year, we’ve learned how to make both feta and Boursin pasta, French onion chicken, whipped coffees and more.
But now a new craze on the platform is turning traditional food genres on their head.
People are making their own Oreo sushi, by deconstructing the popular sweet treat and turning it into a Japanese-inspired dessert.
TikTok user @siennasweets_ shows how to reinvent the classic snack at home in one of her videos.
Anyone looking to give it a go should first remove all the Oreo creme, then crush up the cookies and add just enough milk to create a paste-like consistency.
After rolling this out under some cling film or plastic wrap, add the creme on the top and flatten again.
Then use the plastic wrap to roll the ingredients into a sushi-style shape – before cutting into bite-sized chunks.
In the video, @siennasweets_ can then be seen holding a piece with some chopsticks and dunking it into some chocolate sauce.
There’s no denying that this technique does look like a lot of effort to achieve the same Oreo taste, but it seems lots of people are huge fans of this sweet sushi alternative.
One person replied: ‘This is the only sushi I will eat.’
While another said: ‘My kind of sushi.’
In fact, the post has racked up more than 668,000 likes so far.
However, others are less convinced.
One person said: ‘It’s just Oreos 10 steps harder.’
While another commented: ‘I tried it, it’s really sweet and it kinda tastes like a squishy texture [sic].’
Alongside recipes, TikTok is also brilliant for foodie hacks.
There’s definitely a broad spectrum.
I think the braids might not be too nice to your hair, and what about that gorgeous red? You’d lose that!
The dress and Pinky, I agree 100%
Probably fake hair braids.
They look a bit synthetic/nylon, to me.
I just liked the snek accessory.
:D
Poor Pinky finally has a local half-arse bike event to go to and he’s in the middle of fixing to shed.
Bummer.
He’s not been anywhere fun for 4 years, now.
