it certainly shows up in predator fish caught in North America fresh water (pike, muskie especially).

But it is “natural” pollution, so it must be OK? Reminds me of when we were in-port at Groton, with the reactor shutdown, and the airborne radiation detectors alarmed. The ELT took an air sample on the dock, and if it turned out to be from the decay of Radon gas, it was OK because it was from the coal burning power plants up river. Even though the radiation levels exceeded the Navy limits, since it was “natural” it was OK!

I guess if mercury is frozen into the glaciers, that pretty much takes us off the hook for contaminating the planet during the Industrial Revolution.

Same with asbestos - prehistoric caves are loaded with it - blame the cave men and saber-tooth tigers.
