Summer months are here and national parks across the country are getting an influx of visitors. In some cases, it's been so many that some parks have been forced to close their gates.
For example, Arches National Park in Grand County, Utah, welcomed about 194,000 people in April — up 15% from April 2019, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Since the beginning of this year, the park has closed its gates over 80 times. If the rate continues, this will be the park's busiest year ever, according to The Associated Press.
...With the crowds comes a mixed reaction from locals, the Journal reported. Many locals are frustrated and said they've seen an increase in graffiti, piles of human waste, and trash.
"This year has been over the top with new visitors who really are not educated as to how to appropriately recreate," Joette Langianese, director of a nonprofit called Friends of Arches and Canyonlands Parks, told the AP. "For example, throwing garbage just on the ground...

Well, the parks HAVE been advertising to and desiring a more, shall we say, urban crowd.
Diversity is our strength.

Too many young whites are drug-addled and identify with thug culture. Trust no one.
Really? My brother and cuz were at Sturgis last year and the overwhelmingly white crowd in general, dont act like retards. Obviously, there will be a minor few idiots who get drunk etc, but overall, it was a great experience. This also includes antifa getting their asses kicked when the cameras werent rolling haha
People who can’t afford Disneyland are slumming at the parks.
... could cause some park regulaters blood pressure to rise.
Not to sound racis but the urbans destroy everything.I travel all over.
at least a thousand people sat quietly on benches around Old Faithful....
no fights...no bad lanquage...no demonstrations...just people quietly chatting and enjoying the natural surroundings and awaiting Old Faithful.
it would not surprise me at all if they start making everybody register to come to the National parks and spots are allotted.....and yes, people that never go or care about going to a national park will get first dibs and priorities because of George F.
A year from now everyone will be over it and the parks empty
My wife and I had a reservation for Glacier National Park starting tomorrow. We had to cancel it about a month ago as we looked into getting a rental car and there was not one available for over 100 miles. From my experience at the parks, it is primarily Asians and Europeans.
You can’t CLOSE NATURE
I’m a mountain biker. And have exploited this issue many times
Oh gee! Park closed huh ?
Well I guess I’ll have it all to myself then !
( generally I see others doing the same )

Garbage on the ground..... Done completely by regressives. Conservatives do not litter. In fact, we clean up after our selves and others to an extreme.
I visited Arches & Canyonlands in mid-May. Both were spotless - no graffiti, no trash. Arrived Arches 3pm, woman at gate did say park closed that morning before 10am for 3 hours. They need to wait for 30% of the crowd to leave to reopen. Passed by the entry the next morning at about 9am on the way to Canyonlands. Arches was already closed. It’s a small park. We’ve been to a dozen NPs in the last 5 years. We always go before Memorial Day our after Labor Day. Never crowded.
Canada closed and much of Europe and UK very difficult to visit.
I saw “A” black guy working at the Yellowstone Gift Shop in 2013, and uniformed American Indians operating the Glacier National Park gift shop 2015, along with Navajos working the Chaco Canyon offices in the past.
I always liked Dead Horse Point, across from Arches. First was there way back in 1955. No crowds, no drinking water, no paved roads, no visitor center. Wild!
Last time was in 2013 and 2015. Crowds had picked up. Paved roads, rest rooms, walkways, visitor’s center, banisters to keep fools from falling into the canyon... not like the olden days when,if your car broke down, your bones might still be there. I saw a dead mule there back in 1955.
