Lori Lightfoot’s problem isn’t racism - it’s too many violent black criminals out on the streets.
She has a lot of problems. However, at the end of the day, she is still a political animal. She knows that calling out the real problem will get her in trouble with her base. On the other hand, she knows that she will get cheers from her base, and sympathetic nods from Libs, for playing the R card. So from a political perspective, it’s a “wise” strategy for her.
The only problem is that, from a responsible governance perspective, it’s a disaster. Unless she calls out the real problems, she will never solve them. As a result, every year Chicago will go a little bit more downhill. Eventually, it will become Detroit.
