As many as 70 active and inactive Chicago street gangs with 753 factions have been identified.[6][7] Some of the gangs that contribute most of the crime on the streets of Chicago:
Gangster Disciples
Vice Lords
Black P. Stones
Latin Kings
Black Disciples
Maniac Latin Disciples
Spanish Cobras
Almighty Saints
Spanish Gangster Disciples
Four Corner Hustlers
Former Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy blames Chicago’s gang culture for its high rates of homicide and other violent crime, stating “It’s very frustrating to know that it’s like 7% of the population causes 80% of the violent crime...The gangs here are traditional gangs that are generational, if you will. The grandfather was a gang member, the father’s a gang member, and the kid right now is going to be a gang member.”[3]
There are an estimated 100,000 gang members in Chicago.
The above is according to Wikipedia.
But, as we know, we aren’t allowed to talk about gang violence, because it would be racist. We aren’t allowed to talk about gang killings, because that would be racist. We are only allowed to talk about killings in the context of the weapon used to commit the crime.
It seems to me that this is where we get stuck in societal debates about this issue. We aren’t allowed to talk about the youth gangs. We aren’t allowed to say that the overwhelming majority are black youth. We aren’t allowed to say the overwhelming majority come from fatherless homes.
There is a lot we aren’t allowed to talk about. Liberals such as Lightfoot only talk about the fact that they use guns in their crimes, and then launch into the gun control debate.
