I did my own research and found that the majority of the Democrats voted FOR the legislation that had been championed by Kennedy (D) and LBJ (D).

Since the evidence is so easy to find, show me where the Democratic party didn't support the legislation. Yes, they fillibustered, yes Everett Durksin was against it but the bill passed because the Democratic leadership pushed it.

British monarchs like King George III claimed “the Divine Right of Kings”. They claimed their legitimacy to rule came directly from Almighty God, and they could decide what Rights their subjects enjoyed.
American Colonial rebels weren’t having it. We/they were going to choose our own leaders, our Rights came from God not the King, and the alleged divinely chosen George could go screw himself.

Probably happened too quickly. I would had voted no. I think this is a good cause but I may had preferred to celebrate President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation on September 22 (It became effective on January 1 but that day is already a holiday).

The 1964 Civil Rights Act essentially set up courts of racial thought crime. The administrative agencies created by the act could, and did, charge virtually anyone of criminal racism simply based upon numbers. The accused were assumed to be guilty and had to prove their innocence. This is still the case.
SCOTUS tossed gasoline on this fire in 1971 with the Griggs v Duke Power decision. There have been others in succeeding years.

HISTORY: Not all slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, nor via Juneteenth. Only the slaves of the REBEL states were freed then. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime effort to split and weaken the South; he did NOT free any slaves in the Northern states. Slaves in the non-rebelling border states had to wait for the 13th Amendment, effective December 18, 1865.
