Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is slammed for repeating same sentence 16 TIMES in 'deranged' e-mail to staffer - sparking comparisons to Jack Nicholson's 'The Shining' character

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been slammed for sending a 'deranged' email to one of her female staffers berating her for failing to scheduled enough 'office time'.

The condescending message was sent by Lightfoot to her then-scheduler Taylor Lewis on January 28, but was only obtained by the Chicago Tribune this week. The paper was investigating reports of high staff turnover at City Hall when they uncovered the 'unhinged' email.

The message included sentences which Lightfoot repeated more than a dozen times - apparently in order to really get her point across.

ASSISTANT: The mayor's then-scheduler, Taylor Lewis, no longer works in the office, the Chicago Tribune reported ASSISTANT: The mayor's then-scheduler, Taylor Lewis, no longer works in the office, the Chicago Tribune reported

'Since my prior requests are routinely ignored, I am now resorting to this: I need office time everyday! I need office time everyday! I need office time everyday!' Lightfoot raged in the e-mail.

She repeated the same sentence a further 13 times, before writing: 'Not just once a week or some days, but everyday!'

Office time apparently refers, according to Lightfoot, to open time set aside for thinking on big-picture type issues that isn't clogged up with meetings or other obligations.

In the email, Lightfoot continued to patronizingly repeat each sentence she subsequently wrote.

She signed off her message by writing: 'Have I made myself clear?!' 13 times times in a row.

As of June, Taylor Lewis no longer works for Lightfoot. Her official position with the city was listed as 'Director of Scheduling and Advance.' She was a member of the mayor's 'Diversity Cabinet.'

She thinks she’s some kind of world-class leader. In reality she is a world-class nut.

To be mayor of Chicago requires a high public profile - events, meetings, press conferences, etc. If that is too demanding for Lori Lightfoot, she should quit. Lord knows Chicago would be better off if she did.

If I worked in city hall and anywhere near her office, I would make sure I always sat in my office facing the door.

“She’s lashing out at anything that moves.”

When you see people act like that, it’s generally deflection. Something is wrong and they strike out at others because if they’re causing the disruption, then they aren’t being victimized by their (self) disruption. I noticed in the work environment that it was generally the least qualified people who would do anything short of murder to be the manager. When they finally got their they reacted to everything that happened with anger...because they had no idea what to do with the power and authority once they got it.

I suspect the mayor is overwhelmed and has no idea what to do or say in meetings. So, she seeks to limit them.

Has anyone tried saying “Lori Lightfoot” three times? That should take care of it.

Why doesn’t the mayor just come into the office when she wants to? I assume she doesn’t share an office with someone else.

Did the staffer schedule too many ribbon cutting ceremonies?

I was thinking more like contractors, restaurant owners, et al. have to come in and pay their bribes.

Now if she wanted less office time I could see it your way.

Wouldn’t being in the office every day kind of be a thing you’d expect from the mayor of a city? Like, maybe there’s some work to do in the office?

I hate to suggest Mayor Lightfoot could be right, but ... on the face of it, it looks like she’s right.
