Albuquerque FReepers; we are taking a necessary road trip that requires an overnight in your fair city. Can you please recommend a safe, good, pet friendly motel/hotel in the area. We will be traveling West to East on I40.

Thank you in advance.

I’m not from Albuquerque but I’ve passed thru many times. The Uptown area east of downtown and right off I40 is not a bad area and has a number of hotels.

I know this doesn't help, but I really needed some humor this morning. Hope you get some helpful advice.

I have stayed at ABQ for business multiple times, but it was a few years back.

As always most of the name brand hotels are safe, but I always stayed north of downtown several miles. Anywhere around Rio Rancho seemed safe back then. Pop in a “Senior” or “AAA” code when reserving to get a better rate.

I did stay a couple of times on the old Hwy 66 route, and near the military bases. While the Costco is wonderful, the street people were everywhere. A couple of hotels by the airport seemed safe.

So look for the newest hotels or just stay north.

Just try not to crash your car when passing all the NM “Ridin’ With Biden” billboards.

Stay away from Central Ave around Wyoming or San Mateo. That’s where the C-stores have glass partitions for the cashiers.

Go to Rio Rancho.

Have driven through it many times E/W and N/S. It is a mean-ass city. I’d want to stay on the outskirts in a name motel.

Nowhere ON I-40 or near the airport. When you hit town take I-25 north 5 miles or so and you’ll see lots of good options.

Yes. I agree. This is the best advice so far. If you must stay the night in ABQ this is your safest bet. Lived there, done that. When I go back this is what I do, when not staying with friends outside of the city in the Tijeras area.
