Robin Thede and London Hughes are set to star in a “Perfect Strangers” reboot that is in development at HBO Max, Variety has confirmed.
In the multi-cam reboot, perfect strangers Deja (Thede) and Poppy (Hughes) unexpectedly discover that they are half-sisters when they both inherit a one-bedroom apartment above a trap yoga studio in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Polar opposites, they must learn how to live and work together.
Thede will also write and executive produce the series in addition to starring. Robert L. Boyett, who produced the original series, will also executive produce. Warner Bros. Television will produce. Thede currently has an overall deal at the studio under her For Better or Words banner.

The premise is weak, and the writing weaker in the original.
Perhaps, but since I watch little broadcast TV anymore, I doubt I’ll see this unless I’m not working AND it’s heavily publicized.
Never watched the original series, so you can bet I won’t be watching this one. I hate sit-coms anyway.
Aaaand they’re black.
Why not make new shows? How about original writing? Not that often remakes are better than the original.
And the daughter of the "Don't Squeeze the Charmin" guy is black?
Where’s Balki?
He balked at a reboot.
What was odd was original was entirely on TGIF but not a show about kids like Full House or Family Matters or Step by Step.
I never watched any of them either. For some reason, I never liked situation comedies, so I've never watched Cheers, Friends, none of them. Had my fill of hospital dramas with Ben Casey, and Dr. Kildare, so I'm not a fan of any hospital shows either.
I only watch three network drama programs: Prodigal Son on Fox, SEAL Team (just finished its 4th Season) and Evil (only first season has aired) on CBS. They just cancelled Prodigal Son after its second season, and both SEAL Team and Evil are moving to Paramount+ for their next seasons. These networks have way too many new series on hold, that they have to shuffle them around various networks in order to air them. Two years ago CBS aired a summer series called "Blood and Treasure." It was renewed for a second season, and it still hasn't been given an air date for it. Most of the new series that the networks produce consist of the same scenarios as TV older series, just adding new characters, and new timelines.
TV is soooo dead as are movies.
In other words, another show to ignore, in a long, long line of shows I'm ignoring.
Another classic show to destroy...and probably make a lot raunchier than the original knowing HBO.
Just another show not to watch and another service not to subscribe to.
Tv has been dead since the 70’s after the rural purge! No originality in entertainment. Tv, movies, sports and music suck ass!
I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!
It only makes sense because according to the major networks at least 98.3% of the people in the US are people of color (or gay, or both).
I enjoyed the original and found Melanie Wilson to be a knock out. I will pass on this one.
Which one is from outer space?
