Anybody that has ever bought any of those solar powered sidewalk accent lights knows they only last about 2 or 3 seasons if you are lucky.......................

That’s because water leaks into the plastic-encased cells and also the cheap batteries die.

Sure the early ones...but we had some in the next generation go five years so they are getting better...I think it was the lithium batteries that failed so I’m not sure if the solar cells were really at fault.
