Growing up, I was an all-star athlete in multiple sports so “exercise” was a way of life.
At 28, I became a single dad with 2 little girls (4 and 1) and between that and completing my BS/MBA, I had no time for exercise and added 30+ lbs.
At 35, I joined a fitness club as a gift to myself for the academic achievements and slowly got back to my “normal”. I got my girls into a fitness routine, too.
In 3 weeks, I’ll be 72 and looking back, joining that fitness club and working out 4-5 times a week was one of the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
I drink 50-60oz of water, eat a LOT of grilled chicken breasts and extra lean ground sirloin 2x week. I visit my fitness club 5-6 times a week and ALWAYS do a 9-11 minute HIIT program on an elliptical. A quality heart rate strap and phone app will maximize your efforts.
All that said, it is hard to maintain a healthy fitness level as one ages...but I simply cannot allow myself to become a couch potato.
So good luck to everyone...just keep on truckin’...

I have the Polar H-10 and run the app on my phone.
I plan HIIT once per week, but weight training gives the same cardiac effect. After warm up this morning, I got to 142bpm just doing dead lifts.
+1 on the water.
I try to drink between 70-90 oz a day.
That’s an amazing testimony there!
Keep going!
