Health, Vitality, and Immunity are Conservative virtues. You can not have self-sufficiency without them.
“Intermittent Fasting!”
Alone, that does not build muscle/capability or fitness.
I encourage you to add movement.
Turn the food pyramid upside down. Problem solved.
Look into what happened to the former “Biggest Loser” contestants before you decide to go down the “eat less, move more” path as your sole strategy for losing weight.
Have to dump three things: potatoes, bread, and beer. You can eat almost anything else - even some chocolate - but those three do immense damage to any weight loss plan.
“Problem solved.”
While weight loss alone is an admirable achievement, fitness is the goal.
Growing up, I was an all-star athlete in multiple sports so “exercise” was a way of life.
At 28, I became a single dad with 2 little girls (4 and 1) and between that and completing my BS/MBA, I had no time for exercise and added 30+ lbs.
At 35, I joined a fitness club as a gift to myself for the academic achievements and slowly got back to my “normal”. I got my girls into a fitness routine, too.
In 3 weeks, I’ll be 72 and looking back, joining that fitness club and working out 4-5 times a week was one of the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
I drink 50-60oz of water, eat a LOT of grilled chicken breasts and extra lean ground sirloin 2x week. I visit my fitness club 5-6 times a week and ALWAYS do a 9-11 minute HIIT program on an elliptical. A quality heart rate strap and phone app will maximize your efforts.
All that said, it is hard to maintain a healthy fitness level as one ages...but I simply cannot allow myself to become a couch potato.
So good luck to everyone...just keep on truckin’...
“I post these silly articles in the hope that even one of you will decide to get up off their ass and move.
And quit eating all that sh!t.”
Why bother?
Let the lazy phuckers die off,
thin the herd. improve the gene pool. make a spot for a younger one to take a job. more dating options.
It’s all good.
I love hiking and I love playing ice hockey. I play in a league that has college kids my son’s age, so I’m motivated to stay in shape so I don’t get completely embarrassed
I have found eliminating sugar from my diet has helped the most.
Actually it’s been shown that Fasting boosts HGH (Human Growth Hormone) levels.

I have the Polar H-10 and run the app on my phone.
I plan HIIT once per week, but weight training gives the same cardiac effect. After warm up this morning, I got to 142bpm just doing dead lifts.
There are strategies to lose weight that work. Yours is useless
“Yours is useless”
Millions have used it successfully.
But it doesn’t work for lazy asses.
Everyday I do HIIT on the elliptical first followed by weights & machines.
I use the Polar app - an excellent read out/summary.
It’s quite easy. When you think of eating something that’s not going to be good for you, I just ask myself “will this make it harder to wipe out commies”. If the answer is yes, don’t eat it, no, then eat it. Same thing with outdoor activities etc. Ask yourself if these pushups will make it easier to say goodbye to commies. It’s great motivation.
Also, it doesn’t hurt that nobody wants to run into a regimental brother and look like you escaped from the walrus exhibit.
Eat a banana for breakfast.
I find it goes really well with coffee.
My routine requires 120-160 grams of protein per day.
But I do eat fruit.
Perfect, and motivating logic.
I agree! I’ve been intermittent fasting for a couple of years now and feel great. I also attempt to avoid dairy, grain, and sugar. Considering purchasing a stand up paddle board if I can find a lake or section of river nearby to dip an oar in daily.
