A brazen shoplifter was caught on video stuffing items into a garbage bag inside a San Francisco Walgreens and then pedaling off on his bike — in front of a security guard who simply recorded the theft on his phone.
The shocking footage, posted on Twitter by KGO-TV reporter Lyanne Melendez, shows the unidentified thief filling up on stolen goods as two people — one apparently a security guard — stand in the aisle with their phones out.
The crook then hops on his bike and pedals past the pair, with the guard making a failed attempt to grab the bag before the man bikes to the automatic front door and takes off.

Do you want to go to jail for 5-8 years for $10 per hour?
Good for you!
I’ll have to remember that.
Well, I’m not a business and I don’t have to carry liability insurance. You asked me what I would do, not what a business should do.
I thought it was ChiCongo.
BJ’s doesn’t do that anymore.
“He did not really get away yet.”
Yes, he did. How many times have you seen someone smoke meth or heroin? How many times have you seen someone shoot up meth or heroin? How many times have you seen a uniformed beat copy walk by a guy shooting up meth or heroin and do absolutely nothing? That’s five or ten minutes at the San Francisco Civic Center, every block for blocks around, every minute of every day. They’re closing the Walgreens, and have closed a dozen or so in San Francisco already.
They always come back to the same store...
“I don’t think shoplifting (under a certain dollar amount”) is even prosecuted in San Fransicko.”
Does that warrant an on the spot physical assault or death sentence for petty theft instead then?
CVS deserves what they get. That is one ultra far left company that nobody talks about.
What did he steal? Without the stolen physical evidence being brought into court to establish what was stolen, I don't know what they'd prosecute him for. This guy walks.
Shoplifting is one of those crimes that could possibly be best prosecuted with certain unique forms of punishment that will be remembered for a long time by the shoplifter. Such as caning.
Shoplifting is not quite so bad as to require capital punishment, but the perps need to be prosecuted in such a way that they will remember it for a long, long time.
Stores are overdue to adopt the Costco, BJ’s Wholesale, or Amazon Store model where only members are allowed in.
The 3 Costco stores near us, really checked the member ids and sometimes the Driver’ Licenses to match them.
That works and so does Costco’s and Whole food’s 2 hour delivery.
Home Depot’s 2 hour store pickup with special parking works great
Evidence is useless since this is in a jurisdiction that won’t prosecute.
$5 says the shoplifter-looter would have turned and run when he saw the bat.
Like a fox to the hen house, he will be back and do it again. They know who he is and catch him in the act. With the video from the first time he will not be able to skate. Two counts.
Anything under a thousand dollars won't even be prosecuted. AG announced that a couple weeks ago.
Naaa, he’ll just ride his bike to the next Walgreens and do the same thing. It’s California, criminals like this are protected while law abiding citizens are held in contempt.
Or just pulled a gun and shot you.
