I am seeing a lot of logs moving here in Oregon. I also found out one of our mills is cutting metric boards for export to China. We used to export a lot of raw logs but President Trump got them to export finished lumber instead.
So, the answer from “The Graduate”-PLASTIC won’t work either.
Lol...
Fall of 2019 my husband and son took the 2nd story dilapidated deck off my son’s house planning to build a new one. Covid hit, and I remember that spring suggesting to my husband that we go ahead and buy lumber to finish the job because I wondered if there would be a shortage. It didn’t happen and now we are wishing we had. So my son has two doors leading to a 20’ drop and we may end up building 2 small decks and join them later. Or turn the doors into windows, lol.
We built a new house in 1991. Stud 2 x 4’s were about $3.50 each. OSB was $7.40 per sheet. The entire framing package was about $15,000 at The Home Depot. That price included rafter lumber because the rafters were built on site.
Dang, bad timing.
Like I said. Price gouging.
For some reason I remember that is against the law and specifically in the midst of this scamdemic.
Selective enforcement.
I don’t think the wood used to make paper is anything that is fit for lumber. Maybe somebody can prove me wrong?

TP comes from pulp...and the pulp is not from trees grown for lumber
I sure hope you got the rebate on those concrete footers.
I was actually looking at some concrete retaining wall blocks (Paverstone). That stuff is stupid expensive now, too.
I had a high school economics teacher who said wars were predicated on the availability of lumber but I don’t recall the specifics. I graduated in 1980 and still remember that.
