An alert? I learned that asphalt and desert sand got really hot during a heatwave when I was a small child. Who wouldn’t know this?

So, in other words, Doctors ‘advise against’ sitting on extremely hot asphalt roads, especially whilst one is bare-a*sed or barefooted.

Not only that, but eggs you fry on pavement can contain lots of cholesterol.

Can’t resist—too rich. Yep, the ASININE PRESS knows we are stupid. The AP is nothing more than a propaganda arm of the left, here they are merely repeating idiocy.

I remember my first time visiting Laughlin, NV in July 1990. It was 115 degrees and we had to walk about 100 yards from the parking lot to the restaurant. Damn near thought I was going to die before we got inside because the heat radiating off the asphalt was worse than the heat from the sun.

Seriously, tho, in addition, people need to be mindful of their pets’ paws, too
Taking them out on paved surfaces earlier than 9-10 PM is gonna be torture on them.

I lived in Pecos, Texas as a youth. I liked walking around barefooted on the the little grass in our yards. I damn sure knew to not walk on the asphalt after a one time experience of just a few seconds. It is hot as hell.

I do not understand the purpose of this short thread. If it is hot do not step on it. It hurts.

ps

The desert there was a paradise for a young hunter. I went to the farm of two square miles that my granddad managed. Of those two square miles were about 30% that were not suitable for farming. Quail and Dove and vermin, Jack Rabbits etc. Rattlesnakes also. I left them alone if they left me alone, thus I killed very few though many encounters with such. The portion of the farm that could not be cultivated and were thus left natural was my paradise as a youth. Not many 13 year old kids walk across the desert for miles with a single shot 20 gauge shotgun and a canteen of water and a straw hat. That hat is important in the desert.

I became educated in the extreme I miss the simplicity of the desert.

Terlingua, Texas 20 years ago would have been nice. The summer there is hell. October to Mid May or early June is perfect. Unfortunately it has become desirable thus is no longer desirable to me. Normal people are there now. It makes it no longer desirable.

I have seen concrete sidewalks buckled up due to heat expansion. I’ve seen motorcycle kickstands sink into hot asphalt and bikes fall over. (Yes, mine, years ago - called learning the hard way)

Used to be a saying something along the lines of... “madder than a sunburned sidewinder on a southern fried asphalt parking lot...”

or something to that effect
