Novavax (NASDAQ:NVAX) shares rose more than 6% in Monday’s premarket trading after the company said a phase-three trial had found its two-dose COVID-19 vaccine to be 90.4% effective.
The trial had 29,960 participants across the U.S. and Mexico.
The vaccine was found to be 100% effective in preventing moderate and severe infections and 93% effective against some variants, Novavax said. The company plans to file for approval with the Food and Drug Administration in the third quarter.
Upon regulatory approvals, Novavax remains on track to reach manufacturing capacity of 100 million doses per month by the end of the third quarter and 150 million doses per month by the end of the fourth quarter of 2021, the company said in a release.
Once authorized, the Novavax vaccine would join Pfizer BioNTech (NYSE:PFE) (NASDAQ:BNTX), Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) and Johnson&Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), the three COVID-19 shots already approved for emergency use in the U.S.
Barring J&J’s, all are two-dose vaccines.

That’s exactly right. I don’t understand why antivaxxers don’t see it.
They’ve taken a lot of hits due to numerous manufacturing issues and perpetually extended trials. My hope is that they’ll be smart enough to go right for a BLA (full FDA approval). They’re too late for an EUA.

So the Novavax is not made with fetal tissue, is that correct? And I take it it does not sue the MRNA techonolgy. Am I right that the J&J is also NOT MRNA but it does use fetal tissue? Someone told me the J&J was the worst from a pro-life perspective.
Ping. Any vaccine this new should not be given to young people (age 21 and below) under any circumstance continues to be my view including with the ones already out. (Unless dosage is adjusted.) Let’s see how it fares though internationally and among high risk.
Lets try and use treatments that can work than experimental Gene Therapy.

For decades the meme has been “no GMO foods” and now half the country just GMOed their bodies on the governments say so.
All well and good, but I think I’ll continue to rely on the immune system God gave me at birth. It makes me sad that mankind thinks they know better than God.
I could comprehend the “vaccine frenzy” if the illness had the mortality rate of Ebola, AIDS, cholera, etc. But for something with a 99.7% or higher survival rate? Madness.
It’s become just another mania. An attempt to force social compliance and exert control over other humans.

That’s different from some of the other vaccines now widely used, which include genetic instructions for the body to make its own spike protein
FYI, The Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed program awarded Novavax a $1.6 billion contract for 100 million future doses. The company won this tremendous support despite never having brought a vaccine to market in over three decades.
The vaccine has gone through more pre-authorization trials than the other 3 approved vaccines in the USA. Their trials included the Covid variants.
In January, Novavax announced that its 15,000-person trial in Britain found that the vaccine had an efficacy of 96 percent against the original coronavirus. Against Alpha, a virus variant first identified in Britain, the efficacy fell slightly to 86 percent. In South Africa, where Novavax ran a smaller trial on 2,900 people and the Beta variant was dominant, the company found an efficacy of just 49 percent.
But the South Africa trial was complicated by the fact that a number of the volunteers had H.I.V., which is known to hamper vaccines. In addition, the study was so small that it was difficult to estimate how much protection the vaccine provided H.I.V.-negative volunteers.
With the support of Operation Warp Speed, Novavax drew up plans for an even larger late-stage trial in the United States and Mexico. But difficulties with manufacturing delayed its launch until December.
By then, the United States had authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines. In February, with the Novavax trial still underway, the government authorized Johnson & Johnson’s.
As it waited for trial results, Novavax partnered with other companies to start making massive quantities of its vaccine. In India, it joined forces with the Serum Institute, and in South Korea, SK Biosciences. Novavax reached an agreement with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to supply 1.1 billion doses to middle- and low-income countries.
But the company’s difficulties with scaling continued, and it needed more time to develop special tests used to confirm the quality of its product.
How can any vaccine be called effective this early on? I mean, should people start getting the virus this summer will they change their effectivity percentage??

Yes....the only one I could tell that is free of it. More than the safety issue this was a deal killer for me. Novavax might be a possibility but it seems it won’t be available for some time so I’m in a wait and see situation. If it becomes available I’ll reassess the pros and cons.

What’s happening in Novavax’s stock now is NOT investing. It’s speculation and trading, mostly by big players and automatic trading algorithms.
