I started out in BASIC and FORTRAN in the mid80s.
But, gave it all up during the Billy-Jeff years and let an out-of-work West Virginia coal miner so my coding.

I started college in 1982. Same thing here, then PASCAL, then VAX Assembly language, C, Visual Basic, C# then Java and Groovy.
