I’m local to this. 30-40 minutes drive to VT. Local news tells more. There was a “sexual act” involved prior to the football player finding out it was “dude looks like a lady” deal. He went back over, and lover boy/girl was a....dude. So the beating ensued.
Going to guess the “encounter” involved something that allowed the trans fellow to hide his real stuff. Also, local FB and such says this was a normal thing for that guy. Lure unsuspecting straight guys and “use them” for his purposes. It wasn’t his first rodeo, but it certainly was his last. :(

if the dude said he was a girl, he was girl. Period. Not sure why the football player was mad, a simple declaration of the sex you identify with should have been enough.

It appears that the “victim” lied about his “condition” and had sex with football player under false pretenses. That is one definition of rape. The player can and should have his lawyer counter with rape charges.
