Officially called the "2018–20 UEFA European Football Championship final tournament," that mouthful is traditionally pared down to "Euro 2020" or, even more succinctly, the "Euros."
This is the 16th edition of the tournament, which is designed to crown the top international team in all of Europe. After years of qualifying matches, we're down to the final 24 teams, broken into six groups of four for the group stage.

It did in the end. But that was a fantastic match. Going to be hard to top that one.
Italy got their scare. Hats off to Austria!
Agree, it was a great game. Italy escaped by a few inches when the Austrian goal during regular time was disallowed due to an offsides. It would have been tough for Italy to get the equalizer with about 15 minutes left.
I fell in love with the game when I lived in Italy. I watched the 1970 World Cup classic between Italy and Germany in a hotel lobby filled with Italians and my German wife. The game was fantastic with end to end play and the crowd in the lobby cheered for Italy while my wife and I cheered for Germany. Lots of good natured back and forth after each goal. I was hooked after that game. The atmosphere was electric.
Per Wikipedia”The semi-final of the 1970 FIFA World Cup between Italy and West Germany has been called the “Game of the Century” (Spanish: Partido del Siglo; Italian: Partita del secolo; German: Jahrhundertspiel). It was played on 17 June 1970 at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Italy won 4–3 after five of the seven goals were scored in extra time, the record for most goals scored during extra time in a FIFA World Cup game.
That first Italy goal was reminiscent of Bergkamp vs the Argies in the 98 WC.
Great game but I wish it went to penalty shootout to spook the English before their game with Germany Tuesday.
Great Games! ⚽💪⚽🏆

You have to admit, it’s as if everything is setting itself up nicely for the Danes, right now. Not that it will be easy, but who wouldn’t love to have Wales and the Czech Republic as the first two teams you face in the knockout rounds.
Even before the sending off, the Dutch looked very ordinary. Guess they aren’t quite back just yet.
At least Netherlands had a promising first 15 minutes.
The Netherlands had 0 shots on goal. That’s the biggest shock of all.
Meanwhile pretenders are done pretending.
⏰ RESULT ⏰
😮 Did you see that coming?
🇨🇿 Holeš & Schick on target as the Czech Republic book their place in the quarter-finals 👏

I’m beginning to wonder if we’ll see another shock champion, like Greece in 2004. Czechs made a case today they could be that team. Could be the Danes, as well.
Oops!
9th OG of the tournament.
Previously there were only 9 OGs in all the previous tournaments combined.
Spain serving notice that their new generation has arrived.
