Republicans in Congress, even though they are in the minority, have the power and responsibility to demand the rights granted citizens be respected and obeyed by federal judges, prosecutors, and bureaucrats. They can and should push the issue daily on the floor of the chamber and in the press as the Democrats do when they are in the minority.

These guys made the Republicans in Congress run and hide like scared rabbits. They're not going to go easy on them after that.

A handful of Senators and Reps actually are trying to do something about this, if only call attention to it. But of course, all the media has to do is ignore them and nobody will ever know.

My question…where is President Trump in all this? He has a moral responsibility to these people to ensure that they get equitable treatment and a fair hearing. He doesn’t even have to defend them, simply their right to be treated as all other similar cases have been treated and in a way that abides by US justice and penal standards.

But he should say something, because his would be a voice that the media could not ignore.
