To: Tennessee Conservative

DH got a solar well pump several years ago but never hooked it up. He looked into various kinds and got one for about $700. I told him what was being discussed on the thread and he’s now figuring out where to put solar panels (tons of trees so requires heavy figuring) and will use them to charge batteries.

Maybe your daughter and SIL could understand that there is potential of hackers going after infrastructure and so good to prepare for that possibility. That’s sort of in the news.

I’ll try that, about the hackers. My daughter will do the opposite of anything I recommend so I have to be tricky about how I approach it.

The generator will run the well pump if it comes to that but rainwater will keep my dogs in water and flush the toilet. Ten days without a bath might be tough but it’s just the two of us. If we get desperate we have the large farm pond. :-) We use a water cooler in the house and keep the big 5-gallon bottles for it so we have drinking water. It wouldn’t be easy but I think we’d get by. We don’t eat a lot of meat so there isn’t a fortune to lose in the freezer.
