Carnival Cruise Line Releases Specific Health Protocols for Texas Sailings

Carnival Cruise Line releases its more specific health protocols for departures out of Texas which begin in July with two cruise ships.

Carnival Cruise Line released its health protocols for cruises out of Texas which covers Carnival Vista and Carnival Breeze, both scheduled to begin sailings this July out of the Port of Galveston. The cruise line has already released more detailed protocols for cruises to Alaska.

We already know that guests will need to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure, as announced by Carnival on June 7. The proof will need to be shown of full vaccination, including the second dose. How this impacts the recently signed vaccine passport bill remains to be seen.

Carnival’s Texas Health Protocols

Guests are being warned to be fully prepared before their voyage as they will be denied boarding if there is no proof of being fully vaccinated. There will be no refund. The CDC does still require masks on all forms of transportation, but the situation is fluid, so Carnival has not yet committed to those details just yet.

The CDC has been relaxing rules recently for vaccinated passengers, especially for cruise ships. The hope is that guests won’t need to wear a mask while onboard. However, this could be different when a ship is docked in port as the cruise line must follow local rules.

Even though Carnival is a very family-focused cruise line, taking the fully vaccinated route for these sailings allows guests to enjoy the cruise experience. If they took the alternative route, there would be more strict measures during the voyage, which would be difficult for families, including kids.

Just days ago, Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said “We appreciate the progress and support for our U.S. restart from the CDC and other key federal agencies; however, the current CDC requirements for cruising with a guest base that is unvaccinated will make it very difficult to deliver the experience our guests expect, especially given the large number of families with younger children who sail with us.  As a result, our alternative is to operate our ships from the U.S. during the month of July with vaccinated guests,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.”

It is important to know that the health protocols are only for the cruises during July with Carnival Vista which begins sailing from July 3 and Carnival Breeze which begins operations on July 15, 2021.

The cruise line is currently working on its protocols for Carnival Horizon out of PortMiami. For Carnival Miracle out of Seattle, more specific health protocols have already been released.

Lots of people are ready to have a real good time.
They are beyond Cabin Fever.
So, there is money to be made for the cruisers who can get it all together this summer.

It’s a private company, they can mandate vaccines if they wish, people are free to not go on their cruises.

Wrong evidently...

On Friday, Royal Caribbean announced a reversal of its previously planned requirement that passengers be fully COVID-19 vaccinated in order to sail aboard its cruises.

This policy change flies in the face of Royal Caribbean’s original mandate that both guests and crew be fully vaccinated in order to board its vessels when the line returns to cruising from U.S. homeports in June 2021. The vaccination requirement will no longer apply for ships sailing out of Florida or Texas, although it holds for cruises departing from anywhere else.

I don’t want to be on a boat with some retarded Qanon loon who isn’t vaccinated

If you are vaccinated, what are you worried about?

That’s how it should work in the US. Unfortunately Florida and Texas won’t allow private business’ to request proof of vaccination, meaning they can’t meet CDC requirements.

If TX and FL don’t represent your values maybe you’d be happier cruising out of Cali.

“...request proof of vaccination, meaning they can’t meet CDC requirements.”

Which is where this issue dies.

The CDC can only recommend they cannot require. It’s in their charter. They have no government authorization to require ANYTHING. Any business which goes along with their “requirements” does so willingly by making it their requirement. Since this is now illegal in both TX and FL cruise operators must accept non-vaccinated cruisers as well. Read the * note. They cannot require proof of vaccination in both TX and FL. Liberty wins -again.

biden, fauxi, and the cdc recommending lockdowns, cancellations of events, masks, and vaccines for our citizens to stop the spread of a “deadly virus” while biden opened the border, invited, welcomed, and continues to freely spread thousands of “disease carrying invaders” across our country during a “global pandemic” reeks of hypocrisy and proves we’re being lied to about the severity of this so called “deadly virus”...

“If you are vaccinated, what are you worried about?”

Worried that the anti-vaxxer will pick up a case of covid in port and bring it back to the ship. Infects a few other random anti-vaxxers, who end up in the infirmary, and suddenly the remainder of the cruise is cancelled and none of the surrounding countries will allow the ship to dock, as happened in March 2020.

I’m vaccinated so I’m not worried about catching or spreading the virus - but all it takes is one case among the non-vaccinated for the cruise to become hell at sea.

Celebrity Cruises will not ask for proof of vaccine in Florida, but there will be different rules for those passengers

You'll find their Florida/Texas on the thread. Presumably divulging your vaccination status will be voluntary. They'll meet the 95% vaccination requirement both by restriction of non-vaccinated activities,a 24/7 mask requirement except while eating in a restaurant or your cabin, and restricting the number of cabins they sell to the unvaccinated. Likely prices too, with testing requirements before embarking and disembarking at the passengers cost. IMO for an unvaccinated individual, it would be a very poor experience. And before anyone suggests you can simply lie, remember that can get you disembarked at your next port, also at your own expense.

Unfortunate, but I don't see what options they have. A shame the states put them in this situation.

In this instance they don’t, though it’s hardly a question of values. I acknowledge that private business’ and individuals can prevent me from entering their premises and homes unarmed. I make my choices accordingly.

I’m a Florida resident. Thank God I was based in Florida during the worst of the pandemic, I appreciate how DeSantis eventually handled things.

However, he is wrong on this. A couple of weeks ago he was helping the cruise lines, and as a result of his lawsuit the CDC caved in and provided guidelines for resumption of service. The cruise lines were fine with the guidelines and began to restart. Now just a couple of weeks later, DeSantis is against the cruise lines, threatening to charge them $5,000 per passenger penalty. Totally ridiculous and he has lost my support
