“‘Money’ had an unusual fight style. In fact, he was one of the best defensive boxers to ever step inside the ring. He had enough knockout power [to] counter his opponents. But out of 50 wins, Mayweather only has 27 wins via T/KO.

In his entire boxing run, Mayweather performed as an oppressor in a very handful of fights....‘Pretty Boy’ relied on his defensive skills and his extensive counterattack abilities.

But he was never really a knockout fighter. Most of his fights went full 12-rounds, and the American was a fan of collecting points by hitting jabs to the face and body coupled with some right hand strikes.”

Mayweather was the best punch counter (note my word order) in boxing history. Nobody was better at making sure he hit the other guy more than the other guy hit him and winning the round. If you’re watching boxing hoping for power and fury then yeah he was terrible to watch. But if you know how the sport is scored it was amazing. I often wonder how he’d have been at the blackjack table. Anybody who can count punches that well would probably be amazing at card counting, I mean for one thing you’re not getting hit, that has to make it a lot easier.
