Hi Gina, all is good, it’s hot. We could use the rain, maybe not 2” at once. Has been a nice relaxing weekend of yardwork and a smoked yardbird.

Dinner sounds good, Vision, but not the heat. I’m making dinner in the kitchen (rib-eye steaks in the cast iron skillet and mashed potatoes), because the rain was too heavy for the grill outside, even though we have an umbrella we set up over it.

Evening, folks. Gina, we’ve done about the same, rain-wise, about 2” in 48 hours. More to come over the next six days. Temps are hovering in the mid 80’s except in larger storm cells, and then it’ll dip into the low/mid 70’s. Vision, maybe I missed something in the local vernacular up there. Am I to assume that a ‘yardbird’ is a chicken, or no?

I’ve long quit listening to this show. After Ed died, we listened to Rob, the fill-in host, but Murray is a communist, so I can’t listen to him. He ruined the Big Broadcast. But we hang out here on the FR thread for our friends, Vision and Viking.

Wet, but good. Actually smoke and grill yardbird Thursday night, country ribs Friday night. The bird was pre-marinated in Italian dressing (YUM!) and the ribs were fully smoked and had Kansas City style BBQ sauce mopped on to get that caramelized bark crisped up along the edges. Two of our cats are grill-o-holics, and wear their little grillmaster aprons when it comes to the eating side of the process. LOL I didn't get all the vegetables planted and the heat got them, so I picked up several more tomato and pepper plants today. Four Quinault strawberry plants, too. Maybe they'll do better in a giant pot on the patio, where the critters won't bother them. Two days running, I've caught birds sitting on the shepherd's hooks the other two pots are hanging from. Little thieves.

And yeah, Gina, Rob was a worthy host to take Ed’s mic, which is probably the reason why they yanked him and gave it to Murray the Lib. I had high hopes for Rob.

What do you mean? I have never supported fund-raising for WAMU, but I've supported Free Republic since I joined here in 2010.
