Nah, true reparations can only come from the United Nations--countries all over the world were involved in the slave trade for centuries.

The African tribes captured the slaves and sold them, the Spaniards and Portuguese who loaded them on ships and sold them, the US merchants (north and south) who bought them and resold them to the southern plantations.

Of course the northern US folks who then freed the slaves should get credited some amount...

This could become a board game--slave trade monopoly!

What about the Jews who were held as slaves in Egypt? Do the blacks claiming to be the decedents of the ancient Egyptians owe reparations to the Jews? What about the Celts that were held as slaves by the Romans, do the Italians owe reparations to the Scots, Irish and Germans? How about the African tribes that captured and sold other tribes into slavery? Do those Africans owe reparations to other Africans?

The tokens for players could be muslim Africans rounding up blacks to sell them, or white Democrats engaging in the slave trade...or Democrat Klansmen.

Need to add Britain & the Netherlands to the transporters and the Caribbean, Central & South American countries that the vast majority of the African Slaves went to. Of the some 11.3+ million slaves who survived to the Western Hemisphere, the British North America & its successor entities of the United States & Canada took in about 4.4% / 500k, with almost all of the rest going south of there.

THEN you have to move to slave capture & holding that is not specific to Black Africa. Islam, in its religious doctrines, specifically permits holding slaves who did not accept Islam personally. From ~700 to present, various Islamic polities have lived on slavery, regardless of skin color or ethnicity. The Ottoman Empire, The Barbary North African countries, and into Mogul India, all regarded slaves as good war booty. Into the 1700s, the English Channel and south through Europe's Mediterranean coasts had slave raids by 'pirates' out of North Africa.

Reparations is a fools game now being played by those who see a gain in it. There is a long history of why visiting the sins of the fathers on the children is a very bad policy. Two wrongs will not make this problem go away but these 'leaders' only see this movement as empowering their cause(s). What a mess!

The institution of slavery was brought to North America by the British. It was these same British who became US citizens that continued the institution of slavery. Technically Slavery was in the United States from 1776 to 1863 when Lincoln freed the slaves through the Emancipation Declaration. That means that institution of slavery was in the United States for 103 years. African Slaves were traded for almost 400 years. People really need to quit saying that Slavery started with the United States.
