I haven’t encountered any reluctance to discussing immunity from infection recovery.

What we know so far is that recovery from infection does provide at least some protection. Mild or asymptomatic cases appear to provide less protection that recovery from severe infection, and this makes sense. Certain variants reduce the level of protection from either recovery or vaccination by virtue of an S protein with slightly altered shape. Examples include the South Africa and Brazil variants. Manaus, Brazil is a prime example of a place where lots of people had COVID-19 (the April 2020 variant), then the P.1 (Brazil variant) came tearing through the same population. Educated speculation based on available evidence suggests that the people in Manaus who had mild or asymptomatic COVID-19 with the April 2020 variant lacked sufficient neutralizing antibodies to protect them from P.1 variant infection.

Prior to the newer variants, it was found that the chance of reinfection after getting the April 2020 variant was upwards of 1 in 10,000. The newer variants increase risk. So yes, recovery from infection is absolutely helpful in achieving an inoculated population. But it’s also not bulletproof. Infection recovery together with vaccination provide significant protection from all known variants. Not bulletproof; but as close as we can get. Those who recovered from severe COVID-19 are probably not going to see a major benefit from any of the vaccines available today. Those who had mild or asymptomatic cases do - per the evidence. And everyone who hasn’t had COVID-19 already definitely benefits from getting vaccinated.

“What we know so far is that recovery from infection does provide at least some protection“

Some protection? Natural t cell immunity from sars cov 1 is 17 years and counting.

Quite simply natural immunity is the best immunity. Immunity through vaccination with an attenuated virus vaccine works good as well. The reason being that both allow the immune system to see the WHOLE VIRUS.

Immunity through spike protein only…..well we are all seeing that it just does not hold a candle to those above. Which makes sense as the immune system only got to learn a very small part of the overall.

Another problem is no one is talking about our innate immune system. You know, the part of the immune system that can clear a virus like covid without ever needing the second tier defense of antibodies.

Trust your immune system, it is a wonderfully amazing system, bestowed upon us by none other than God himself. And no, I am not talking about Fauci.

You are absolutely invested in pushing the vaccine.

The science does NOT support what you just wrote here.

In other posts, you claimed that you aren’t interested in pushing the vaccine (a lie) and want to follow the science (also a lie).

Interestingly enough, even the other vaccine proponents here on FR disagree with your push to vaccinate those who now have natural immunity.
