Fully-Vaccinated Napa Woman Dies of COVID-19

NAPA (CBS SF) — Napa County has reported its first death from COVID-19 in a fully vaccinated patient, a county spokesperson said Thursday.

The woman, a Napa resident, died Wednesday, said Leah Greenbaum, public information officer for Napa County. She was over 65 years of age and had underlying medical conditions and died from complications of COVID-19 after a prolonged hospitalization.

The woman tested positive for the B117 (UK) variant, which is more transmissible and causes more severe illness.

So let me get this straight. Seniors and immunocompromised ppl are the population most severely affected by the virus, which is why we needed a vaccine in the first place: to protect them. But now the vaccine isn’t helping them as well as they hoped, so the answer is to give more immunizations that apparently don’t work? WTF am I missing, because this makes no sense.

Yep, I’m only 58 and have had at least 58 viruses, flus... whatever, INCLUDING the dreaded killer Covid-19 and I haven’t died from a single one of them either.

I don’t think so. The article doesn’t tell us much other than a breakthrough rate of 0.04% (32 out of 71,371) for that Calif county with one fatality after ‘prolonged’ hospitalization of a patient with existing issues. From Napa’s statistics, their unvaccinated death rate (deaths/cases) is 0.08%, much higher than the vaccinated death rate of 1/71,371.

Vaccines are being reformulated on the fly for the mutants, (so we’ve been told) but originally targeted the Wuhan CCPVersion 1. The UK variant is the second most circulating in the USA followed closely now by the India variant with both being more aggressive that the original.
