Michelle Obama is drawing the cinematic battle lines for movie nights in her household, saying her husband's taste in "dark" films varies greatly from the lighter fare she enjoys.
"We all don't like the same movies," the former first lady told Stephen Colbert on CBS's "The Late Show" on Tuesday.
The Obamas' 22-year-old daughter Malia Obama and the former president both prefer "dark and sad" movies, according to the ex-executive mansion resident.
"You know, it seems like they take themselves a little seriously with their movies, and they like to rehash dark moments," Obama quipped.
"But Sasha and I," she said of the couple's 19-year-old daughter, "we want a little laughter and some frivolity."
Malia Obama, who has reportedly worked in film production studios, is the "movie savant" of the family, her mom said.(snip)
But as far as former President Obama's film picks?
"I'd say Barack's taste in movies is 'everybody is sad, then they die,'" she said.
