That must be a very old joke. Dealerships now HATE it when you pay cash. That’s because they make all their money in the finance office through loan fees and other fees.

I paid cash for my 2020 Dodge Durango R/T but I went through a service that gets them from direct from auctions and checks them out thoroughly. That way I didn’t have to go through any ridiculousness.

The drawback was mine is a destroyer gray color (which I wanted) and that is in super high demand so there was a bidding war on the vehicle. We won.

Yeah, we had dealerships try all kinds of crap on us.

Also remember if they offer 0% interest, they may jack up the price of the car.

Last car we bought we financed through the dealer then after 3 months rolled the loan over to our credit union.

The last 2 vehicles I purchased, I did the loan thing through the dealer, got the “5000 back” money, then paid off the loan immediately. So I paid a few dollars in interest, got some Cash back, dealer got to sell a loan, everyone is happy.
