What an outstanding piece, GW. I've ALWAYS thought exactly this, and stopped reading right there to rush to the reply box, being very excited to see my thoughts explained out by a smart guy (which means maybe I'm a smart guy?).
Anyway. The part I quoted is really all that needs to be said. The rest is explanation. I'm excited to read the rest of the article and see how the author fleshes it out.
The very nature of cultures guarantees that more than one of them cannot coexist. Multiple 'cultures' will strive to dominate and suck the other culture(s) in like the Blob in a movie theater, while those other cultures will resist and strive for their own domination.
Cultures are the Borg and require assimilation, to which ultimately, resistance IS futile.
If and when the American culture is finally broken, there will be another culture that takes its place. And then the game will begin all over again.
The derps will try to force the culture (they are tryhing now), like the Soviets, the Chinese, the Nazis, and others throughout time have done, but if there are external forces with the necessary strength, these artificial 'forced' cultures are doomed to fail.
I believe, like some I've read (I forget who), that only a culture of liberty and freedom will ultimately prevail, because deep down, that is what all men truly want. Is this what people mean when they say, "God wins"?
Of course, this struggle will be played out over and over ad infinitum into the future, because, as I've been recently told, man is in a spiritual battle between the forces of light (God) and the forces of darkness (Satan), whether that battle takes place only in the hearts of men or externally (God and whatnot).
Okay, got interrupted by rl, so lost my motivation on this topic.
