I was at my local pharmacy the other day. And they had hand sanitizer on sale. I like sales. But I will not by any hand sanitizer made in China! I find it repulsive that a Chinese company could profit from a Chinese virus.
So I looked at the label. “Made in PRC” it said. Well, that’s the People’s Republic of China, aka Red China. That’s a hard pass for me. But I wonder how many people know what PRC really stands for.
Sorry, my mom’s grammar teachings are coming out. They are more clever as we become more stupid.
I hope you never handle receipts after using hand sanitizer. It ups your intake of BPA.
Isn’t the Cortez woman from PRC?
I believe my wording is also correct. How do I know that? Before posting anything I always consult my Magic 8-Ball. And here’s what I got this time:
🙂
I put stuff back on the shelf myself yesterday for the same reason. I have found non China alternatives for most things. I have no problem paying a bit more for non China made.

I’ve read about that. You are right about receipts. Due to the way they are printed, they are far from being harmless.
You better check all your food. I’ve seen frozen asparagus from Safeway from China. Sometimes you it’s very small orint in an unusual place.
Things made in China are currently marked “Made in China”. But you frequently have to search for it if you wish to avoid their products. There should be a prominent sticker affixed to each Chinese product to speed up our shopping.
I’ll bet the folks on FR know what PRC is.

One of Hillary Clinton’s stupid (and dangerous) ideas was to make all county-of-origin labeling optional. So if you didn’t want to put “Made in China” on your product, you wouldn’t have to.
Fortunately for America, Trump derailed Hillary. But I wonder if “China Joe” Biden will revisit the idea.

Not always. I’m seeing “Made in PRC” on things besides hand sanitizers. There is no mention of China anywhere on the label.
And in many places it's very difficult to find.
> Is that really a law? I have found food that there is no country or origin.<
I believe it is a law. But if a product is made in the USA, evidently you do not have to state that on the label. So in that case, the label would not have any country of origin information on it at all. Like you, I have seen that.
I find that odd. If you made your product in the USA, why wouldn’t you want to put that fact on your label?

Has that ever changed?
Why wouldn't U.S. produced food label themselves?
If the foreigners own or manage your farms the label would still say USA.
I think China owns pork producer Smithfield now.
In my favorite stores, the sanitizer is on discount. They can’t get rid of it.
I try not to purchase items made in China, but with the abdication of U.S. businesses to manufacture stuff here, it’s very difficult. I certainly refuse to buy any food, including pet food, made in China or with Chinese ingredients. I have noticed an attempt to be clever by many pet food companies, saying on their labels “Ingredients obtained from all around the world [a euphemism for Chinese-sourced?], but manufactured in the U.S. Not good enough for MY pets. I leave whatever pet food with that baloney statement on it right there on the shelf.
