Belgium is ending the posting of its ambassador to South Korea after his wife assaulted a woman in Seoul.
CCTV footage of the incident shows Peter Lescouhier's wife, Xiang Xueqiu, slapping a shop assistant in April.
Staff had wanted to check the clothes she was leaving in were her own, amid concern she might be shoplifting.
Mrs Xiang later met the shop employee to apologise for her "unacceptable behaviour", the Belgian foreign ministry said.
But Foreign Minister Sophie Wilmes decided to end Mr Lescouhier's posting this summer after three years in the role.
While Mr Lescouhier had served his country with dedication, "the current situation" did not "allow him to further carry out his role in a serene way", the embassy said in a Facebook post.
In April, Mr Lescouhier apologised for his wife's "unacceptable" behaviour.
Ms Xiang initially invoked diplomatic immunity to avoid charges over the attack but the Belgian government waived it so that she could be investigated by South Korean police, the embassy said.

When I was in Hong Kong the Vietnamese Ambassador was caught sticking his hand down random women’s pants in Causeway Bay.

Apparently the Belgians don’t think much of the Chicoms either. There’s a billion and a half Chinese. The ambassador could have at least married a better looking one.

But she can cook like no other.
No disrespect mean to Belgium. But it is a tiny nation with very little power. So just how important is Belgium’s relationship with South Korea?
To answer that question, I consulted my Magic 8-Ball. Here’s what I got: “On a scale of 0 to 10, it is at most a 1.”
The ambassador’s wife was rude, violent and inappropriate, but she slapped somebody, not the ambassador.
Maybe Belguim was already dissatisfied with his diplomacy, and this was the last straw.
South Koreans are not going to just take that treatment and bow their heads with a smile. This is not Kim Country.
Belgium did send some troops to fight in Korean War...

Okay, so his wife is Chinese, but the Belgians are the most pompous f*ckheads in the business world. I’ve worked with people from every corner of the globe, and the Belgians were the worst, followed closely by the French.
The Hague and the EU parliament are located in Belgium which might influence their attitude of entitlement.

Do you mean the Walloons, or the Flemish? I live among the Walloons and they don’t strike me as pompous, money is on the Flemish.

I know Euro-Chinese parings are on the rise but I am sure he could have did better. I don’t think even if you paid Laz a million bucks he still would not touch that if she was single.
I have no idea so I will graciously assume the ones I dealt with were Flemish. I bet they hate the Walloons for not being pompous enough.
