I was living in Central Florida when the famous Winter Park sinkhole opened up in 1981. It was 350 feet in diameter. Swallowed a car dealership. Pretty darn spooky in person.

Yeah, that was a crazy thing... people were hiring cranes to rescue their exotic cars from a nearby repair shop, too, IIRC.
