Oh but I did.. Still suspicious. Someone says it is authentic and gives quasi facts that I can’t personally check, I am gonna get several opinions before I buy.
Well, I guess I'll pass, then...................
I don’t want it, the strings are loose
This instrument was found to have been built from the same pieces of wood as another Guarneri. There is no stronger method of authentication. Nothing suspicious at all about this violin.
How is it ‘Click Bait?’
I went to the site. Not an ad or popup to be seen.
Appears to be a serious site by a serious magazine about playing the violin. Everything is about violins and playing violins.
So what am I missing?
Spotted owl omelette lovers are upset too
Joy to you! Best of luck with your purchase.
All cultures are equally impressive, it would seem.
FTA:
“ The instrument was then compared with a ‘filius Andreae’ owned by luthier Bruce Carlson, which had undergone analysis by dendrochronologist Peter Ratcliff. The researchers were surprised to find that the wood was an exact match, indicating a ‘twin’ – two instruments made with wood from the same tree. The year of the second violin had already been established as 1705. ‘They are identical with regard to the choice of timber, having the same veining and the same design on the soundboard, the ribs and at the back,’ the report states. ‘The two violins are also identical as far as their construction, dimensions and varnish are concerned.’”
I’d jump on this. Do you know what lumber is going for these days. This is waaaay under valued!
This would be what they called ‘Old Heart Lumber’ in the old days................Check its price if you really want to see ‘expensive’!....................
Incidentally .. . wasn’t the violin made from wood used in constructing a bridge in Brooklyn ?? Spaceman
Followed by his annoying creepy laugh.
“This and the music it made are the kind of things Europeans were creating and building in 1705.”

Now they’re making “Welcome Muslims” signs and laws. How the mighty have fallen.
What would make the story even better is if it was found in one of those Italian houses that was recently sold for 1 EURO.
Yikes, stored in an attic. That’s not good.
