I live in Vegas and I've been watching a live traffic cam showing the traffic near Primm, NV , which is at the NV/CA state line on I-15.
It's been going on since 10:00AM this morning, and it's been 5mph, bumper to bumper all day and is continuing into the night. I've never seen anything like it. It's mostly Californians returning home after spending the holiday weekend here. Here's the website. Type "Primm" in the "find" box and then click the blue box in the upper right corner to expand the picture.
Drive time from Vegas to L.A. is normally 4-4/12 hours. Right now it's over 8 hrs.

I 15
[IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA]
SOUTHBOUND TRAFFIC IS REDUCED TO 2 LANES AT KELBAKER RD /IN BAKER/ (SAN BERNARDINO CO) - DUE TO A VEHICLE FIRE

A single car accident can really mess things up. One time, on my way to the city, it took about two hours to take what is normally a twenty minute trip.
It was involved in an accident and it was taking two lanes of a three lane road, at a vital part of the highway 16.
I heard Vegas was solidly booked all weekend. Appears the players are back and ready to blow their stimulus! :)
Does this have to do with the “Bug Inspection Station” just in side the Calif State line?
That would be funny, if it weren’t so sad.
Lost Wages -—> Lost Stimi....
Live in Vegas, too, and hubby has been giving me hourly reports about the traffic going back to CA on the15. What a mess! Not sure why people do this to themselves. Even if there are no accidents, or itβs not a holiday weekend, itβs horrendous almost every Sunday. Crazy.
Yep.
I’d prefer my tax $$$ to be spent locally, and at mom and pop type shops/restaurants, please.
The solution is obviously High Speed Rail Vegas-LA.
What gas prices in Vegas and Cali this weekend?
I tanked up today at ~$3/gal for 87 Octane, Non-Alcoholic gas in northern Deep Flyover Country.
I have an upcoming, personal, 900 mi. hardware retrieval mission to accomplish soon.
So glad I live in the middle of nowhere.
LV needs a Calif. traffic diode.
Hahaha all the Dumba## returning to la with zero winnings
What a desolate stretch of dirt.
I’ve driven it several times.
Today it was intensely sunny and over 100deg.
I wonder how many vehicles overheated.
Nor the usual 85 mph...π
Totally needed, since they donβt have anything like airplanes that can fly there.
Dittos to that!
Where did they get the money for a long weekend in LV?
I was told nobody would work.
