I can go ~1000 miles in 14 hours with a gas car. Tesla routes an EV taking 18 hours. That counts as well under a day.

My run between Pocatello, ID and San Diego, CA was 925 miles. I usually departed at 8 AM from Pokey and arrived in San Diego around 11:30 PM. That included gas at Nephi, UT MM-222, gas/dinner at St George, UT MM-8, gas at Stateline, NV or Baker, CA, gas at Lenwood Drive (Barstow, CA). Avoid Pokey to San Diego on a Sunday as you hit the CA weekend traffic returning from Las Vegas. Leaving from San Diego at 6 PM for the return trip to Pokey avoids driving into the sun on the northeast leg from Hesperia, CA to Baker, CA and gets you into Las Vegas, NV after the weekend rush on a Friday.

13 hours, 20 minutes is my best time for the route. Worst times ran almost 23 hours due to weather related traffic jams over Cajon Pass (snow).

Making the trip in one driving session was most economical. On two occasions, I was simply too tired having worked an 80 hour week in San Diego. I stopped in Mesquite, AZ and stayed at Eureka on the first occasion. The 2nd time I stopped in Nephi, UT. The cost of a hotel room was more economical than hospital or funeral bills.

The last time I made the drive, it was Sept 14, 2014. Wrapped up the "two week business trip of 5 years duration" and returned home to Pocatello.
