would she rather carry 20 pounds of batteries or solar panels... Sure, put that female Marine in a recon unit and ask her if she wants that 20 lbs added to the other 120 lbs of gear that she is carrying ...
She will choose whatever helps keep her alive the longest.
So it will be rechargeable batteries to keep power thru the night, in rainstorms and sandstorms.
And a vehicle with a big generator to keep it all powered.
