Banning assault weapons will not work
American Thinker ^ | 28 May, 2021 | Anony Mee

On May 2, in New York City, a Black woman attacked two Asian women with a hammer. On May 14, three people were slashed with knives within a 12-minute period on a New York subway. On March 17, a young woman was attacked with acid, burned, and blinded in New York. On May 18 in Florida, May 13 in Hawaii, and on March 12 in New York, men were set on fire. On May 21, a Jewish man in New York was attacked with pepper spray.

Antifa and BLM rioters have routinely, and as recently as this week, used metal pipes, Molotov cocktails, laser pointers, frozen water bottles, canned vegetables, mortar-like fireworks, eggs, glass bottles, chunks of concrete, bricks, and fire in their continuing attacks on first responders and random Americans. Pro-regressive pro-stateless-Arab protestors have also resorted to violence beyond words to attack Jews since the recent cease-fire in Israel. Not to mention fists and feet.

Biden’s nominee to head the ATF, David Chipman, wants to ban assault weapons? His position and statements would be laughable if they weren’t so darn dangerous. Besides, they are disingenuous. He carried an AR-15, just like the millions in circulation, as an ATF agent? Come on, man, it was fully automatic; there’s no comparison.

Believing, and encouraging others to believe, that banning semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines, regardless of their capacity, will make America safer has no basis in fact. Paper targets will be safer. Varmints will be safer. Banning such weapons may harm some small business owners who own gun shops and shooting ranges, as well as some larger manufacturers of ammunition, reloading supplies, and firearms.

Why not simply believe the government’s own statistics on weapons of choice? The FBI murder stats for 2018 show there were 14,123 murder victims in the US.

How many of their own citizens did communist governments murder in the last 100 years? Probably 150 million or so by various means. Why don’t we start with the oppressive government problem first?

They don’t care or see that. They want to ban these guns and since it’s happened before it makes it easier. Luckily they keep adding to many things to the bill and it fails in Senate. If they went after just AR and AK weapons they may get it done. Hoping they don’t. I guess manufacturers could just change the name of the gun. This should never happen, we should be able to own any gun we want. I think the key is being responsible gun owners. What drives me nuts is that they keep on with this background check and acting like there isn’t one in place already.

Of course it won’t work. That’s their strategy. A slippery slope to eventually taking all guns.

“assault weapons”

Those who tried to use guns as assault weapons have been pushing up poppies in Flanders since the middle of World War I.

When similar bans were instituted on certain weapons in the past, the crime rate remained virtually unchanged, as rarely are the designated firearms even USED in a criminal enterprise. Criminals just went to other sorts of “persuasion” to assert themselves in the commission of a crime, and as long as nobody was willing to prosecute them, it was essentially a “win-win” for those criminals.

The failure to prosecute and convict the perpetrators of criminal activity is a far greater factor in the crime rate than the instrument used to commit the crime. Crime is in the head of the criminal, not in the instrument used. Get their heads straight, maybe by a period of confinement and very restricted access to the rest of society, and maybe, just maybe, the attractiveness of criminal behavior shall diminish. But first someone must get to the minds and change them. And for that they must be caught, convicted and sent to some kind of EFFECTUAL facility, for behavior correction.

Whatever that takes.

In my opinion, this is exactly why they (the commies) are working so hard to disarm America.. It goes without saying, it would be SO much easier to take us down if we were unarmed..

It doesn't matter WHAT his, OR HER name is, if they talk about disarming America, they are the enemy's of the Constitution and the American way of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness..

For sure. And more deaths every year from a 22 than a AR. It’s stupid for them, they want control. And it’s gonna get or is getting worse because of keeping people locked up for so long. I think they are either smart and know this and are using this or are dumb and could cause their demise.

"hose who tried to use guns as assault weapons have been pushing up poppies in Flanders since the middle of World War I."

Funny, but not historically accurate. The first actual "Assault Weapon" was actually called that, the Sturmgewehr of 1944 (StG-44) was the first mass-produced intermediate caliber, select-fire rifle. Its owners are buried in Belgium and East Prussia. The AK-47 and the M-16 are its progeny and very widely used all over the world, so mass burials have been conducted pretty well everywhere except possibly Antarctica since WWII.

What our dear Democrats call "Assault Rifles", aren't.

Banning assault weapons will not work

Calling them "assault weapons" will not work, either.

Once they ban all semi-automatic weapons, ala Australia, they'll ban all pocket knives, ala Great Britain.

Gun control is intended to punish people who don’t think like good conformist liberals. It’s about exerting power over political dissidents. The ultimate crime to a liberal is disagreeing with them, and that’s the offense they cannot overlook. If they can make us submit to gun control, they know they can make us submit to anything. The fact firearms are involved is only incidental.

The drug cartels buy weapons from the corrupt Mexican police departments. These weapons were purchased from the U.S. arms manufactures. These weapons are then smuggled into the U.S. and sold to the drug gangs in American cities.

A very good point.

We must remove their will to be criminals, not just their means to be criminals.

“StG is an abbreviation of Sturmgewehr. According to one account, the name was chosen personally by Adolf Hitler for propaganda reasons and means ‘assault rifle’ as in ‘to assault an enemy position’, although some sources dispute that Hitler had much to do with coining the new name besides signing the order.”

“Originally known as the MP 43 (Machine Pistol) for Nazi political reasons, it was renamed the ‘Sturmgewehr 44’” after its successful introduction into battle on the Eastern Front. It introduced the concept of using a short cartridge with limited range in order to permit controllable automatic fire and a compact weapon”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StG_44

Adolf Hitler was even nuttier in 1944 than Joe Biden is in 2021.
