I get this a lot from college students I talk to. That and “you don’t understand Marxism” or “you never read Marx”. These kids REALLY are being indoctrinated, that is no exaggeration which is what I initially thought.

He is GREAT here. He could have gone on about absolute power corrupting (he did touch that) and how degrading communism is to the human spirit and contrary to human nature. You have perfect ‘equity’ and ‘equality,’ so nobody works.
It’s a lot like the tens of millions of Americans sitting home doing nothing right now because the Biden Bucks keep showing up in their mailboxes.
They really don’t care.
They loved Uncle Joe Stalin and covered up his attrocities for decades as they partnered willingly with the KGB.
They loved Che Guevara and Fidel Castro up to the end of their lives and beyond.
They loved Chairman Mao and quoted from his Little Red Book even the parts of Maoist radicalism where it was said “kill your parents”.
They loved the North Vietnamese military and forgave their warcrimes.
They loved Hugo Chavez.
They loved Jim Jones.
They loved it all.

My response is that REAL capitalism has never been tried either, yet it works. The true test of a theory of government isn’t whether it can work when implemented perfectly but whether it can work when implemented imperfectly, as will always be the case in the real world. Capitalism is like a weed that thrives if you give it half a chance. It is highly robust. Communism is like a hothouse flower that fails every time it comes into contact with reality.
