The pact that would float hundreds of turbines off the coast of Morro Bay and Humboldt Bay was touted as a breakthrough to eventually power 1.6 million homes and help the state and federal government reach ambitious climate change goals through clean energy production.
The plan includes floating 380 windmills across a nearly 400-square-mile (1,035-square-kilometer) area that is 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of Morro Bay.
The California wind farms would produce a combined 4.6 gigawatts, with the Morro Bay operation providing two-thirds of that output.
Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, said he included $20 million in his revised budget proposal this month that would help expedite environmental review of the projects.

This is more invasive than oil drilling.
These people are stupid.
Yup
Grifter Inc. seems to have a new rice bowl boondoggle ,,
(don’t they have a high-speed rail project they need to finish first ?)
But but but won’t the whales bump into them and be annoyed by the noise from the vibrations ?
Funny how Gavin’s priorities shift like a fauci mask opinion.
I bet you the whales won’t like it.
Or the endangered salmon.
I remember Trump at a rally saying something to the effect of “Darling, is it windy enough to watch TV?”
LOL
So they’re going to build an offshore platform out by the windmills for Biden to stand there and continuously flap his guns? ‘Cause that’s the most consistent source of wind I know of.
Sounds like a fleet of sailing ships that residents might one day use to escape the insanity.
A floating windmill sounds like a completely idiotic idea. It will never generate a net positive energy, and they’ll all be on the bottom of the ocean, if ever built.
(10.24.19) Fire safety power blackouts begin for as many as a half-million in California
Since San Luis Obisbo County (Morro Bay) seems to have an established risk for using blackouts to combat wildfires, why is Biden and California talking about putting a wind farm in the area?
(8.17.20) Will rolling blackouts hit SLO County? ‘Yes, it is possible,’ PG&E says

Benefits outweigh possible problems?
Unaccountable funding?

A couple of oil platforms wouldn’t be as ugly and intrusive as these wind platforms
I went to plant flowers at a relatives grave this past weekend. It is in a rural area with lots of really nice mountains to look at.
Since last year two windmills have found a place on one. They are hideous and spoil the view for miles.
Talking to a local, everyone hates them as they moved to that area for the unobstructed natural views. However, the people in the larger city 2-30 miles away love them, as they can fee good and not see them.
Remember the olden days when the green weenies and nimby’s whined and cried about those ugly drilling rigs off the coast? I guess ugly Mr. Chop Chops slicing and dicing birds for minor returns is A-OK!
See my post #31 about a local rural mountain top.
Why does it cost 20 million to sit around and think about it?
“Can you say stupid boys and girls?” The Aussie’s did this and pissed away billions with nothing to show for it.
Numbers will never add up.
How about...
Should work out well for the whales and birds.
Major waste of money(nothing new to the rats) and an environmental disaster....
Only if each windmill has an integrated camera to record the bird carnage, live streamed on Facebook.
