North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Gen Z have something in common: They both hate skinny jeans.
According to various reports, the North Korean dictator has banned skinny jeans and other “decadent” Western trends like the mullet, the controversial haircut that has had a resurgence of sorts in recent months.

Kim also outlawed other “foreign” items such as ripped jeans, slogan T-shirts and nose and lip piercings.
North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un has banned trends symbolising the “capitalistic lifestyle” such as skinny or ripped jeans, the mullet hairstyle, slogan T-shirts and nose and lip piercings.
This is not the first time Kim has railed against the possible influence of Western pop culture and fashion on the young in North Korea. K-pop bands from South Korea have also been banned in the country, for fear that they will corrupt the public.
Kim, 37, is not the only one to have a dislike for skinny jeans, one of the last two decades’ most popular trends in fashion.
Earlier this year, Generation Z users of short-video app TikTok began posting funny videos attacking skinny jeans as an outdated remnant of millennial fashion – mocking them in countless posts that have since gone viral.
This is actually great progress. To be able to have jeans (if not skinny) in North Korea!
Under grandpa Kim, everybody had to dress the same!
Where are you seeing progress? All it is is mullets banned, facial piercings banned, all kinds of jeans are capitalist and hence are all banned, music that aint theirs is banned, not really seeing progress here

Well, you are right.
However!
If you remember, during the granpa Kim, they were all allowed only one blue working suit. All else was prohibited. No private initiative whatsoever.
Now they have (limited) variety of clothes and there is even some (limited) private enterprise.
Small steps.

Considering that the vast majority of the earth’s population exists in places that are either 3rd world or oppressive regimes like Asia as a whole, I feel every day that I have won life’s lottery.
I’m American, living in relative peacetime, and yes (sounds racist to say but it’s not), I’m white.
Imagine the odds of being born this way in a world that exists to destroy any semblance of humanity. We are but 4% of the earth’s population — but by far, the most fortunate.

Ah, you're so negative, focusing on them banning one haircut. Why not look at the positive? They now allow ten different haircuts!
